BGSU’s nationally ranked Digital Arts program is for students who want to study digital arts, 3D animation, digital imaging, interactive art, video art, gaming, mobile web apps, digital painting.

At BGSU, Digital Arts students are part of the School of Art. They benefit from small class sizes, close faculty attention and fabulous facilities, studios and galleries. They also have access to phenomenal library collections, cutting-edge software encouraged to investigate aesthetic, conceptual and perceptual possibilities as they engage in alternative art discourses.
In 2018 Animation Career Review ranks BGSU’s Digital Arts program #7 in the Midwest, #7 among public animation schools and colleges and #28 overall.
Career - what can you do with a digital arts degree?
Our students are known to go far as animators, modelers, texture or concept artists, and technical directors in 3D animation studios, interactive gaming companies and virtual reality labs, or work in the interactive web and app development field creating educational, entertainment-based and commercial mobile apps and websites.
Our graduates have been hired by companies such as Dreamworks Animation (Shrek and Kung Fu Panda), Blue Sky Studios (Ice Age and Robots), Blizzard (World of Warcraft), and Friendly Software (Microsoft games).

Curriculum
Specializations within the Bachelor of Art in Digital Arts include Computer Animation & Video, Imaging, and Interactive Multimedia. Students have access to phenomenal library collections and image resources, as well as state-of-the-art software and computers.

Admissions Information
Prospective students are not required to take a portfolio review. Admission into the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree is selective, and if students opt to pursue this degree they will be required to pass a portfolio review at the end of the first year of study in the School of Art.
The Digital Arts program is part of the School of Art in the BGSU College of Arts and Sciences.
Accreditation
Bowling Green State University [BGSU] is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. BGSU has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission since 01/01/1916. The most recent reaffirmation of accreditation was received in 2022-2023, with our next reaffirmation of accreditation scheduled for 2032-2033.
