BGSU hosting Total Solar Eclipse Watch Party on April 8
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Culminating weeks of eclipse-related outreach and programming, Bowling Green State University will hold a free Total Solar Eclipse Watch Party for the learning and greater community from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 8, at Doyt L. Perry Stadium.
The family-friendly event will feature a variety of fun and educational activities presented by BGSU experts and students, including scientific demonstrations, telescope viewing, arts and crafts, inflatables, giant board games and more. Free BGSU-themed eclipse viewing glasses also will be provided while supplies last.
In addition to free activities and programming, BGSU Total Solar Eclipse Watch Party attendees will be able to enjoy live performances by the Falcon Marching Band along with music composed specifically for the eclipse by College of Musical Arts students.
Along with viewing the once-in-a-lifetime event with fellow Falcons, family and friends at The Doyt, BGSU will provide a NASA livestream of the eclipse on the stadium's video board as it makes its way across the country.
During the event, food will be available for purchase at the stadium's concession stands and from local food trucks.
BGSU will offer free parking for its Total Solar Eclipse Watch Party starting at 10:30 a.m. on April 8 in the lots surrounding Doyt L. Perry Stadium, located at 1610 Stadium Drive. Drivers should follow all posted signs and directions from parking staff and law enforcement upon arrival. Overnight RV parking is available for a fee at the Wood County Fairgrounds.
Located in Huron, Ohio, BGSU Firelands also will hold a free, family-friendly Total Solar Eclipse Watch Party from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. featuring movies, stories, arts and crafts, musical performances and more, with some events requiring advanced registration.
