GRANT PROGRAM SPONSORS:
The PCA/CITE Partnership Support Grant Program is a project of Bowling Green State University (BGSU) and reflects the commitment
of the University’s President, Dr. Sidney Ribeau, to building strong community partnerships as part of BGPCASU’s dedication
to civic development and democratic participation. The grant program is administered by two offices that have a long history
of involvement and activism in Northwest Ohio, especially through the work of Dr. Kathy Farber, Director of Partnerships for
Community Action (PCA,) and Dr. William Armaline, Director of the Center for Innovative and Transformative Education (CITE).
HISTORY AND MISSION:
PCA’s Partnership Support Grant Program was implemented in 1998 to promote mutually beneficial and reciprocal partnerships
by providing funding to university/community partnerships to address issues that concern both constituencies.
CITE was founded in 1999 and developed its own Support Grant Program, which brought together university and community partners
to examine and implement curricular and structural reform projects both in the higher education sector and the P-12 sector.
In 2003, Drs. Farber and Armaline combined the grant resources of both offices to create a joint Partnership Support Grant
Program that met the missions of both offices and provided enhanced funding opportunities for university/community partnerships.
Since 1998, when PCA awarded its first Partnership Support Grants, 348 co-directors have coordinated over 650 University departments
and community organizations in 132 mutually beneficial projects.
