New events calendar debuts | 2018-19 parking permits now available

New events calendar debuts

Bowling Green State University’s new events calendar is now live – it is easier than ever to add and search for events.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit their events to the calendar, which is optimized for sharing content across social media channels. The new calendar will allow you to:

Publish, manage and promote your events
Increase awareness and discoverability of your events
Increase attendance and engagement with your audience

To submit your group or department's event, go to events.bgsu.edu and click Submit an Event. Log in with your school ID and follow the steps. If you have questions, please email madunn@bgsu.edu or alstark@bgsu.edu.

2018-19 parking permits now available

BGSU Parking Services uses License Plate Recognition, a convenient way to park on campus that eliminates the need for any physical permit or placard. Faculty, staff and students can now purchase their parking permits online by logging in to their parking account.

To register for your parking permit, open MyBGSU, click "Manage Parking Account" on the left under "Misc. Services" and then click "Get Permits." You will then follow prompts to register, pay for and link your permits to your vehicle.

OBITUARIES
Virginia Nungester, 87, died Aug. 4 in Findlay. She retired in 1983 after more than 30 years as a secretary in the College of Musical Arts.

Auditions announced for BGSU Choral Society

University and community members are invited to audition for the Bowling Green State University Choral Society. The first rehearsal of the season will begin at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 4 in Moore Musical Arts Center.

To secure an audition time, community members may sign up online or contact director Mark Munson at munson@bgsu.edu. Those auditioning should bring a piece to sing.

The upcoming season includes a performance of “Chichester Psalms” on Oct. 21 as part of a “Festival of Psalms” and in recognition of the 100-year anniversary of the birth of Leonard Bernstein.

For a second year, the chorus will join with the BGSU Graduate Brass Quintet for their second “Joyous Sounds” program to mark the beginning of the winter holiday season, on Nov. 27. A choral evensong will be performed on Good Friday in April, and on May 5, the UCS will join with the A Cappella Choir, Collegiate Chorale and BGSU Philharmonia in a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.

Stroh Center team store space repurposed

To better serve the BGSU community, the space formerly occupied by the Falcon Team Store in the Stroh Center is being repurposed for functional activities.

With convenient parking at Falcon Outfitters located in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union and the Newlove Pro Shop at the Slater Family Ice Arena, the need for an additional retail outlet has decreased while the need for flexible space that can be utilized as needed for various activities within the Stroh Center continues to grow.

The merchandise kiosk and the Falcon Fanatic Tent will continue to provide merchandise at BGSU sporting events. In addition to these locations, BGSU fans can continue to obtain their BGSU merchandise at the Falcon Outfitters online web store.
