MODEL UN TEAM RECEIVES HONORABLE MENTION

The BGSU Model UN team this year received an Honorable Mention Delegation award at the Model UN conference held in late March in New York City. The 14 students all enrolled in the political science course Model UN to participate in the conference, where they represented Latvia in a role-playing simulation of the UN.

“We had a particularly good group of students this year,” said course instructor Dr. Marc Simon, associate professor and acting chair of the political science department.

The conference hosted about 175 universities from all over the United States as well as several from 17 other countries. Delegates negotiated resolutions on international issues before various UN committees. There were a wide range of issues, including cybersecurity, human rights, marine pollution, sustainable development, humanitarian aid, peacekeeping, development aid, chemical weapons and migration.
