PR rep of the stars to give Currier Lecture

Nora-Lawlor

This year’s Florence and Jesse Currier lecture will have a little glitz and glam.

Norah Lawlor, the founder and CEO of Lawlor Media Group Inc. in New York, will be the guest speaker for the annual event. Lawlor, who graduated from Carelton University in Ottawa, Canada, will deliver her speech, titled “From New York City Public Relations to the Oscars” at 4 p.m. April 4 at the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Theater.

As public relations counsel, Lawlor counts many TV, film, and vocal artists among her star-studded clientele. Her talk will focus on her daily dealings with celebrities, ranging from “Dancing With the Stars” contestant Geraldo Rivera to Dylan Lauren, who is the daughter of designer icon Ralph Lauren and the founder of Dylan's Candy Bar, a chain of boutique candy shops.

It will be Lawlor’s first time visiting Bowling Green.

Her visit is possible because of the Florence and Jesse Currier Endowment, which supports seminars and faculty research projects relevant to the journalism department.

Past Currier speakers include columnist Molly Ivins, filmmaker Michael Moore, CBS News reporter Steve Hartman, Fox News analyst Juan Williams, Rolling Stone writer Evan Wright and NPR reporter Brian Bull.
