In Brief: January 14
‘Cinderella’ brings magic, music to Caryl Crane stage
Caryl Crane Youth Theatre at BGSU Firelands rings in 2016 with the magical musical “Cinderella.” Playing Jan. 28-Feb. 7 in the McBride Auditorium, “Cinderella” is the timeless fairy tale where dreams really do come true.
Staged by CCYT Artistic Director Brian Marshall with musical direction by Jeremy Roberts, the production showcases the talents of 38 young actors from 12 area school districts. CCYT’s fresh take on this enchanted tale includes beautiful music, a hilarious book, a few surprising twists, and more magic than can be contained by one Fairy Godmother’s wand. Produced with generous support from The Mylander Foundation, this is a “Cinderella” for the whole family.
“Cinderella” also debuts the theatre’s new Kids Night Out Thursday performances, beginning at 7 p.m. This earlier curtain time will allow families with busy weekends a chance to see the show together on a school night, and still be home in time for lights out, Marshall said.
Performances at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 and Feb. 4; 7:30 p.m. Jan. 29 and Feb. 5; and at 2 pm Jan. 30 and 31 and Feb. 6 and 7, in the McBride Auditorium on the BGSU Huron campus. Tickets range from $6-$14, and are available beginning Jan. 19 by calling 419-626-1950, or by ordering online.
