In Brief: November 23

Free brown bag sessions scheduled for employee development

The Office of Human Resources Training and Development will offer a series of free, brown bag sessions during December designed to help employees manage stress, develop their leadership skills, communicate more effectively and deal with Seasonal Affective Disorder. Sessions will be offered on both the Bowling Green and BGSU Firelands campuses.

The first session, “Shedding Light on Seasonal Affective Disorder,” will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 1 in 315 Bowen-Thompson Student Union. Email Leslie Fern at lfern@bgsu.edu to reserve a seat.

A full list of sessions will be available online shortly. For more information, call Fern at 372-8422 or Lisa Dubose at 372-2628.

Enhancements coming to bgsu.edu search tool

On Dec. 3, a number of new features will be added to the bgsu.edu search tool. The new and improved tool will include search categories such as BGSU Web, Documents, and Directory to better help users find what they are looking for.

BGSU Web searches the BGSU website, Documents examines files hosted on bgsu.edu, and Directory links to the campus online directory page.

ITS and the Marketing and Communications Web team will be making additional changes in the coming weeks to further enhance the search experience. To view the updated search tool on or after Dec. 3, visit www.bgsu.edu and click on Search.

Questions regarding the upgraded search tool may be directed to Marketing and Communications at mcwebteam@bgsu.edu.

ArtsX presents ‘Extraordinary Possibilities’

“Extraordinary Possibilities” is the theme of this year’s ArtsX, the signature holiday showcase of BGSU student, faculty and alumni art, performance and craft. Events will be held from 5-9 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Wolfe Center for the Arts and the Fine Arts Center. BGSU alumnus Logan Jacot, known as “Mr. Marvel,” will present the “Mr. Marvel’s Wondertorium,” a show he created in 2014 at the Wisconsin Dells combining circus skills with sideshow artifacts and exhibitions.

Musical and theatrical performances, art demonstrations and children’s activities take place throughout the evening. ArtsX also is a great place for visitors to shop for one-of-a-kind gifts made by students in the arts. All events are free of charge, interactive and suitable for all ages.

Commencement volunteers needed

Faculty, staff and retirees are encouraged to participate in fall commencement ceremonies. Volunteers are needed both for the 7 p.m. Dec. 18 and the 10 a.m. Dec. 19 events.

Visit the online sign-up form to review position descriptions and time commitments, and to register as a volunteer.
